Car dealership raises cash for prostate cancer charity

MORE than £1,200 has been raised for the Prostate Cancer Charity thanks to the fundraising efforts of staff at a Cobham car dealership.
Dagenham Motors, in Portsmouth Road, Cobham, took part in the charity’s annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Week, alongside five other Surrey-based branches of the dealership group and donated £20 for every new and used car sold over the weekend March 15 and 16.

Further fundraising activities undertaken by staff included raising money through collection boxes and a quiz night with teams from each dealership, which added £390 to the amount raised.

The money from the appeal will be used to help fund research into the cancer, and provide support to those affected by the disease.

General manager Gordon Stewart said: “Prostate cancer is the most common cause of cancer for men and, as we’re a male-dominated workforce, we felt it was an ideal cause to raise money for.

“We are thrilled with the amount raised as it will make a significant difference to the lives of those suffering from prostate cancer, and we are looking forward to taking part in the awareness week next year.”
