Pupils celebrate as new sports hall becomes step closer to reality

CHILDREN, parents and staff at a Weybridge school are celebrating after moving a step closer to building a new sports hall.

Cleves School was delighted to win an appeal against refusal of planning permission for housing on a piece of land to be sold to finance the project.

The land is considered by the government to be surplus to the school’s requirements and does not impact on the amount of playing field and facilities that the school enjoys.

The sports hall will allow the school to extend the range of sports that it offers and will also be available to the community at various times.

Headteacher Sue Croft said: “The sports hall will be such an asset for the school and will bring enormous learning benefits to the children.

“We received an outstanding Ofsted report at the end of last term and the sports hall will enable us to raise standards even further.”
