Poles apart for pupils
.  Picture by Darren Pepe. PUPILS from Hurst Park Primary School looked at the effects of global warming on the polar ice caps as part of Antarctica Week.
The scene was set by a visit from Richard Dunne, headteacher at Ashley Primary School in Walton, who recently took part in an Antarctica expedition.
Staff at Hurst Park Primary transformed the school to include a virtual plane journey to the frozen continent, an explorer’s cabin and an ice station with weather base linked to Antarctica via the internet. First printed in:
