Children hear the advantages of Fairtrade

CHILDREN from three primary schools learned about helping Third World farmers from a talk by Fairtrade Foundation representatives.

Abi Murray and colleague Caroline travelled from London to visit Hurst Park Primary, Claygate Primary and Bell Farm schools, keeping the youngsters fascinated with their interactive demonstrations.

Pupils had the chance to see and touch products in their raw forms, such as sugar canes, cotton plants and coffee beans during the day.

Members of Elmbridge Fairtrade Network were there throughout the event.

The group hopes to convince Elmbridge Borough Council to switch to its tea and coffee, which ensures a better deal for farmers and workers in the developing world.
