Football - Blues on the up but Molesey head for the drop

ELMBRIDGE sides Met Police and Molesey experienced contrasting fortunes over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The Blues strengthened their challenge for a play off place on Saturday with a comfortable 3-1 win away at Chipstead.

The three points consolidates the Police’s fourth spot in the Ryman Division One South table with 68 points, five more than fifth place Kingstonian who have played one game more.

The win also puts Met Police within striking distance of third-place Tooting & Mitcham who are four points ahead having played one game less.

At the other end of the table, Molesey look almost certain for the drop after losing 2-1 to Dulwich Hamlet on Monday.

The Moles prop up the bottom of the division seven points adrift of fellow strugglers Horsham YMCA and 17 points from safety with six games remaining.
